What my child is reading... week 2

Bark, George by Jules Feiffer- My kids have had me read this book so many times. They love the surprise ending.

What Makes a Rainbow? by Betty Ann Schwartz- This is a Magic Ribbon Book. These are so fun. This is a great book to help with learning colors.

Oscar Otter by Nathaniel Benchley- This is about an Otter that doesn't listen to his father and finds himself in trouble.

Apples, Apples, Apples by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace- All about apples. This book has an activity, a  recipe and craft to do at the end. My kids thought they were fun.

1,2,3 to the zoo a counting book by Eric Carle.- This doesn't have any words. My kids both loved finding the mouse on every page.

Curious George and the Firefighters by Margret & H.A. Rey's- My kids always love Curious George books. I felt as though it is sending the wrong message to my kids. He sneaks on to a firetruck and ends up getting praised for it in the end. I always need to have a little discussion with my kids after reading a Curious George book.

Children's Human Body Encyclopedia- This book is says it is for 8+. But my three year old loves to look at the pictures and ask what things are. He has been really interested in these kinds of books lately. Especially about the skeletal system.

Are you my mother? by P.D. Eastman- This book is so cute. We have read it many times.

Bob's Busy Saw- This is a very short board book. My son has wanted me to read it this week at least ten times.

Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go- We love this book. It is huge. We like to look at the pictures and decide if there really is a vehicle like that. For instance the corn car and pickle truck are probably not real.

What my child is reading...

Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson- This was my favorite book as a child and I still love to read it to my children. It is about  a boy that draws an adventure with his crayon. He gets homesick and finally finds his bed.

Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? Dr. Seuss's Book of Wonderful Noises by Dr. Suess- This is a good book for kids with a lot of energy. They get to make all kinds of sounds.

Berenstains' A Book by Stan & Jan Berenstain- This is a good book for the letter A in a letter of the week curriculum.

Danny and the Dinosaur by Syd Hoff- This book is about a dinosaur that comes to life and plays with Danny for the day.

One Fine Day by Nonny Hogrogian- A fox gets his tail cut off for stealing milk and the woman says that if he replaces the milk she will sew his tail back on. He asks a cow for milk and the cow says he can have milk if he gets her some grain. And so the story goes everybody wants something in return until finally one person gives without anything in return. The first page seemed harsh. I wasn't expecting it. I did like the message at the end.

The Big Shiny Sparkly First Words Book by Susie Lacome- A fun book for Toddlers, it has a lot of pictures and flaps on every page.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom- we read this every week to go with our Letter of the Week. Nathan calls it Chicken Back Boom Boom- A fun book about all of the letters. They climb up a coconut tree until it falls over and they all fall down.

Helen Oxenbury's Big Baby Book- This is a very simple board book but my kids have always loved it.

Mrs. Brice's Mice- a favorite from when I was a kid- Mrs. Brice has 25 mice. 24 do the same thing but one is always doing something different.
